Comparison

BeeKeeper vs. MoneyMinder

The closest comparison on this page — and a real one.
The short version
MoneyMinder is built for volunteer treasurers by people who understand volunteer treasurers. That is the same job we are doing, for the same kind of group, and it is why this is the closest comparison on the site.

So this page is narrower than the others. It says precisely how BeeKeeper does a handful of things — how a volunteer submits without an account, how two signatures are collected and kept, what our AI does and where it stops, and who picks up when you write in — and leaves their side to them, because feature lists change and theirs lives on their site. Hold the two up against each other and pick.

Don't wait for July
The instinct is to switch at the start of a fiscal year, because that is when the books are clean. You do not need to. We import your chart of accounts, your budget, your vendors and your history, and we handle the awkward parts — opening balances, checks written but not yet cleared, months you have already reconciled. Mid-year is a normal week for us.

The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is today.

If you decide to move

Most moves take about thirty minutes. You export, we import it with you, and our support team stays with you through the first reconciliation. You will not be working it out on your own.
  1. 1
    Export what you have

Chart of accounts, vendor list, budget, and a transaction export. Support will tell you which reports and how to set the dates, rather than leaving you to guess.

  2. 2
    We import it with you

Accounts, vendors, budget and history come across from CSV or Excel. Balances, and any check that has not cleared yet, are handled deliberately rather than assumed.

  3. 3
    Close one month twice

Pick the month you just closed and close it again here. If both agree, the migration is finished. If they do not, support finds the difference with you before you trust the new books.
